• Hospitality & Congregational Care Ministry Team

    The Hospitality & Congregational Care Ministry Team exists to help the Pastor, staff, and other Ministry Team members share God’s love and joy during structured events at St. John.  Members of this team will meet regularly to discuss ideas, build programs and events designed to grow, care and build connections between the members of St. John.  This team will work closely with the Pastor, staff members, especially the Pastoral Care/Visitation Director.  The goal is for members of this team to use their talents and gifts to help the members of St. John to connect with each other, to build relationships that foster community.  This team will work with and support all Resource and Ministry teams at St. John. 


    Accountabilities/Functions:

    The Hospitality & Congregational Care Ministry Team works to provide a caring and welcoming atmosphere before, during and after our worship experience in accordance with established policies and specifically will:

    • Work with Pastor and staff to build new welcoming and growth outreach opportunities.
    • Develop and enhance member programs.
    • Recruit, train, and schedule team members to assist with visitation work, worship services, and other church related activities.
    • Create, document and revise as needed any changes to processes and procedures.
    • Present ideas and recommendations to the Joint Council, staff and Pastor.
    • Serve as a resource for the Call Committee.
  • Serving & Discipleship Ministry Team

    The Serving & Discipleship Ministry Team exists to help the Pastor, staff, and other Ministry Team members share God’s love and joy within the Cedar Valley.  This team will develop opportunities that allow our congregation to serve members of St. John as well as members of our communities and those in need.  The Serving & Discipleship Ministry Team will work with specific staff members, Joint Council, and our Pastor. 


    Accountabilities/Functions:

    The Serving & Discipleship Ministry Team works to provide an overwhelming sense of service within our St. John family and will: 

    • Work with our Pastor, staff, and congregation to identify and pursue opportunities to serve, assist and care for our community.
    • Recruit, train and schedule team members to assist with service prospects in worship services and other church related activities.
    • Create, document, and revise as needed any changes to processes and procedures.
    • Present ideas and recommendations to the Joint Council, staff, and Pastor.
    • Serve as a resource for the Call Committee.
  • Worship & Celebration Ministry Team

    The Worship & Celebration Ministry Team exists to help the Pastor, staff, and other Ministry Team members share God’s love and joy during structured events at St. John.  The goal of this team is to is to use these talents and gifts to help the members of St. John to connect with each other, to connect with the Spirit, and connect with the word.  This team will work with and support all Resource and Ministry teams at St. John.  The Worship & Celebration Ministry Team will work with specific staff members, Joint Council and especially with the Pastor and Music Ministry Director. 


    Accountabilities/Functions:

    The Worship & Celebration Ministry Team works to provide a consistent worship experience in accordance with established policies and specifically will:

    • Work with Pastor and staff to ensure all aspects of worship are organized, staffed, trained and equipped. 
    • Recruit, train and schedule team members to assist with worship services and other church related activities.
    • Create, document and revise as needed any changes to processes and procedures.
    • Work closely with the Technology and Communication team to ensure worship services and other church related events are covered.
    • Present ideas and recommendations to the Joint Council, staff and Pastor.
    • Serve as a resource for the Call Committee.
  • Faith Formation & Lifelong Learning Ministry Team

    The Faith Formation & Lifelong Learning Ministry Team exists to help the Pastor, staff, and other Ministry Team members share God’s love and joy at St. John.  Members of this team will meet regularly to discuss ideas on congregational growth and care.  Also, the team will build programs and events to enhance and build connections within the St. John members including Sunday School, VBS, Confirmation, High School and adult ministries.  This team will work closely with the Pastor, staff members, especially the with the Children/Youth Director.  The goal is to use these talents and gifts to allow St. John members to continue to grow in their faith and grow lasting relationships.   Additional focus will be on adult engagement opportunities, small group relationships and Bible study opportunities.


    Accountabilities/Functions:

    The Faith Formation & Lifelong Learning Ministry Team works to provide a consistent support system for the spiritual well-being of our members and will: 

    • Work with the Pastor and staff to build new outreach and growth opportunities.
    • Recruit, train, and schedule team members to aid in growing our faith lives.
    • Collaborate on new ways to care for and connect members of St. John.
    • Create, document, and revise as needed any changes to processes and procedures.
    • Present ideas and recommendations to the Joint Council, staff and Pastor.
    • Serve as a resource for the Call Committee.
  • Human Resource Team

    The Human Resource Team exists to “equip the saints for the work of ministry” (Ephesians 4:12) by overseeing the development and stewardship of the human resources of St. John. The Human Resource Team “equips the saints” in collaboration with the staff, Joint Council and especially with the Pastor.  In order to accomplish this, the Human Resource Team provides big-picture oversight of personnel matters as well as develops policies and practices to ensure healthy working relationships.  St. John is committed to fostering a caring, safe and fulfilling working environment, one that promotes individual growth.


    Accountabilities/Functions:

    The Human Resource Team leads all Human Resource activities in accordance with established policies and specifically will:

    • Develop and annually review personnel policies & procedures, position descriptions, programs and controls regarding employment.
    • Create a culture in which continuing education is valued and supported.
    • Design and oversee the implementation of a grievance process.
    • Design and oversee the implementation of annual performance reviews.
    • Regularly assess the staffing needs of the congregation, focusing on both paid & service staff.
    • Partner with the supervisory staff and other appropriate Ministry/Resource Teams in the search and hiring processes.
    • Be a resource for the Call Committee.
    • Regularly review salary and compensation in light of both job requirements and local market-place realities.
    • In collaboration with the various staffing teams/leadership, review personnel cost information and share with the Financial Resource Team for the administration of the annual budget process.
    • Present staffing and scheduling recommendations to the Joint Council and Pastor.
    • Serve as a resource for the Call Committee.
  • Financial Resource Team

    Summary:

    The Financial Resource Team exists to review, audit, and offer support and guidance regarding the financial health of St. John. The Financial Resource Team will work with specific staff members, Joint Council and the Pastor.  The team will assist with coordinating “counters” to help with weekly offerings.  The team will assist with coordinating “auditors” to assist with an annual review of budgets and monthly ledger items.  To accomplish this, the Financial Resource Team provides big-picture oversight of financial matters as well as develops policies and practices to ensure controls and processes are developed.   This team will work closely with the other Resource teams.


    Accountabilities/Functions:

    The Financial Resources Team assists with all monthly revenue and expense activities in accordance with established policies and specifically will:

    • Develop, support, and annually review budget and general ledger items audit processes and procedures.
    • Recruit, train, and schedule team members to participate on the Financial Resource Team. 
    • Design and oversee the implementation of financial proposal processes.
    • Present financial recommendations to the Joint Council.
    • Work with the other Resource and Ministry teams for the continued improvement of St. John.
    • Be a resource for the Call Committee.
  • Property Resource Team

    Facilitator: Curt Thoreson

    Council Rep: PJ Mills


    The Property Resources Team exists to help select, guide and lead vendors and staff to ensure the facility and grounds of St. John are properly maintained.  This team will work to support all Resource and Ministry teams at St. John.  The Property Resources Team will work with specifically with the Facility Manager and staff members, Joint Council and our Pastor. 


    Accountabilities/Functions:

    The Property Resources Team oversees all facility and grounds, in accordance with established policies and specifically will:

    • Work with the Facility Manager, Pastor, and staff to ensure facilities are kept clean, safe, presentable, and in proper working condition always. 
    • Where needed and in conjunction with the Facility Manager, work to design and oversee creation of policy and procedures.
    • Review vendor performance, review contracts with Finance Team and appropriate staff.
    • Assist when needed to recruit, train, and schedule team members.
    • Present property, facility and grounds recommendations with the Facility Manager to the Joint Council, staff. and Pastor.
    • Serve as a resource for the Call Committee.
  • Technology & Communication Resource Team

    The Technology and Communication Resources Team exists to help staff members build and share messages through multiple media formats to spread pertinent information to the congregation and public.  This team will work to support all Resource and Ministry teams at St. John.  The Team will work with specific staff members, Worship & Music Ministry Team, Joint Council and especially with the Pastor with a focus on connecting with the congregation in numerous ways to share our mission and future growth.


    Accountabilities/Functions:

    The Technology and Communication Resources Team leads all technology and communications activities in accordance with established policies and specifically will:

    • Design and oversee creation of policy and procedures for Technology and Communication service team members.
    • Recruit, train, and schedule team members to assist with worship services and other church related activities.
    • Regularly assist the staff and congregation members, with technology and communication requests.
    • Present technology and communication recommendations to the Joint Council.
    • Serve as a resource for the Call Committee.
