St. John's different ministry areas exist to provide opportunities for everyone who walks through the door to live out their faith and to also grow together. Please know that you are welcome to become involved however you'd like at St. John, whether you are a member, a visitor, a friend or just looking. There are groups to join, classes to take and events to attend (and probably more)! You can find out more (including who to talk to!) about the different ministry areas by clicking on the general ministry link above or the specific ministry area to the right.
Discovery Classes (New Member Classes)
Discovery is a series of sessions designed to introduce people new to St. John to one another, our staff and congregation, as well as to some of the fundamentals of the Christian faith and our Lutheran church. Upon completion of Discovery, you wil be officially recognized at a Sunday morning worship service. Everyone interested in joining St. John, regardless of their church background, is invited to join St. John through the Discovery classes. Baptism is a requirement for membership. If you haven't been baptized, we look forward to the opportunity to talk with you about baptism. The next Discovery class will begin this Spring (following Easter).
GEM Classes (Gift Empowered Ministry)
God provides each of us with different gifts -- and there are many ways you can use those gifts to serve others! GEM (Gift Empowered Ministry) is a three-session class which explores spiritual gifts as given by God and helps participants to identify ministry areas they would enjoy serving or find out additional information about. |
