Pastor

Responsibilities
Pastor Dave is responsible for helping the congregation live faithfully into our mission and vision for ministry.  He believes that each of us have gifts just waiting to be used to continue Jesus' work in our homes and communities. He preaches, teaches, coaches, leads the staff and other lay leaders, fixes the HVAC, and occasionally he is allowed to play a musical instrument.

Family
Dave is married to Leslie. They have three daughters, Lauren (who is married to Luke and lives in Minneapolis), Whittney (Sacramento, CA), and Micah (Cedar Falls). Their family is also joined by Oscar the golden doodle (part-time sheep in the Preschool/Childcare) who loves everyone with God-like unconditional love and sleeps wherever he wants.

Other Interests
Dave enjoys bicycling, walking trails, playing bass and piano, reading, home projects, and good movies on the BIG screen. He is also a Mac guy.

Executive Assistant

Responsibilities
Jenny is responsible for our church membership information, communications and publications, and general "go-to" person for the church calendar.  She also coordinates our many service opportunities.

Family
Jenny and her husband, Doug, have two children, Colin and Josie. Teddy, their dog, and Snickers, their cat, round out their immediate family.

Other Interests
When not volunteering through school or church, Jenny enjoys reading, camping, craft days with her daughter and friends, and cheering on the Royals with her husband and son.

Youth Ministry Team Leader / Young Adult Ministry

Responsibilities
Jon is responsible for the ministry at the Lutheran Student Center at the University of Northern Iowa, as well as leading a team of 3 college students at St. John to minister to the Jr. High & Sr. High youth at St. John. He builds relationships with students, leads Bible studies, teaches confirmation, periodically runs the sound system, and loves to have fun with the teens and young adults.

Family
Jon is originally from Bondurant, Iowa where his parents Rick & Lori live. He has 1 brother, Jason, who is an Elementary Education major at UNI.

Other Interests
Jon enjoys playing guitar in his free time, as well as playing pick-up games of basketball, football, and ultimate frisbee with his friends. He also enjoys playing board games and catching up on his favorite TV shows.

Operations Manager

Responsibilities
Kathy is responsible for monitoring St. John’s  financial position (including the Preschool/Childcare operations), paying the bills, recording deposits and processing payroll.  She is also responsible for managing the facility with custodial and kitchen help.

Family
Kathy is married to Dave Beaty.  They have five children between them and 6 grandchildren.

Other Interests
Kathy is also on the Symphony Board of Directors and various NewAldaya committees.  She enjoys friends, entertaining, travel and reading.

Director of Preschool / Childcare

Responsibilities
Kathy is responsible for overall management of the operations of the preschool and childcare, including curriculum, staffing, and maintenance of licensing and other quality standards.

Family
Kathy is married to John Ryan Thompson. John works for Mudd Advertising as a Network Administrator. John and Kathy have one son, Davis, and two cats, Randy and Wally.

Other Interests
Kathy enjoys kayaking, gardening, cycling, and going for walks. She enjoys spending time with her family and looks for every opportunity to do so. Kathy and her family enjoy taking day trips to various parts of Iowa to enjoy all of the wonderful things that this great state has to offer, including visiting local breweries to try a few samples.

Visitation & Men's Ministry

Responsibilities
Accepting the blessing of being part of the St. John staff and working in a sharing team ministry with them, Steve is our Spiritual Linebacker. He is responsible for initiating men’s and family ministries through activities that  enhance the joys of being in relationship with each other all through the grace of a living, loving God. He works with the Youth Team, specifically leading and teaching confirmation, occasionally leading children’s church and assists the pastor as needed including visitation as well as worship, funerals, preaching when called upon. He believes that through the Holy Spirit we go far beyond our best personal efforts in realizing the fullness of our gifts and unique creation that God intended us each to be in serving Him by loving each other as Jesus Christ directed us in “the New Commandment”.

Family
Married to mermaid Sandy & gets to share the blessing of two children together----daughter “Kinzie” who is living her dream working as a graphic artist for Disney World in Orlando, FL, and son Skyler of Cedar Falls who gets to dabble in a love of acting and still searching for some other parts of his dreams and direction.

Other Interests
He loves to step to the beat of a different drum, be it Tropical Rock & Jimmy Buffett tunes, Humor Mining, fighting gravity or “following the bouncing ball” in not just being a fan & watching the Yankees, Jets or Panther teams above all, but  still able at 60 plus years of age to play some of his ‘faves’ like wooden bat baseball & softball. But,  he is immersed in his MAX Joy-filled moment when combining ANY of these things, especially shared laughter with his biggest “chunks of grace”---his wife, children, friends! Describes himself as a truly “Rich Man”!

Director of Children & Family Ministries

Responsibilities

Tricia coordinates and implements the ministry for children from birth to sixth grade. This includes Splash class for infants, the nursery, Sunday School for preschool-6th grade, Summer Vacation Bible School, seasonal programs, and special family events. Her passion is to help families get connected with God and each other by providing fun and meaningful opportunities to learn and serve.

Family

Tricia lives in Cedar Falls and is married to Warren, and they have three children—Jayna, Averie, and Gavin.  Tricia became a member of St. John as a child, and her parents, Don and Dayna Timmerman, are also are members of St. John.

Other Interests

Tricia is also owner and teacher of Joyful Noise Kindermusik Studio, a music and movement program for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and parents.  Kindermusik classes are held weekly right here at St. John.  Tricia loves cooking, crafting, house projects, providing taxi service for her three active kids, spending time with friends and family, listening to live music, boating, reading, and being a wife and mom!
